Lessons

We prefer that our students take their lessons on their own horse. However, we have advanced, competition-level, well-conditioned horses available for lessons if you do not have your own. We emphasize correct rider position along with effective aids for clear communication with your horse.

The group lessons focus on fun and technique. Group lessons are a great way for kids to learn-they get the maximum amount of time in the saddle and can learn not only by doing, but by watch the other students. Our students also enjoy the social atmosphere. Many new friendships have started as of a result of riding together.

Call-In Lessons
For students who want a more flexible lesson schedule. Lessons must be scheduled individually, in advance; the lesson time is not automatically carried to the next week. Payment for call-in lessons must be made prior to mounting.

Cancellations of call-in lessons must be made within 24 hours of lesson, or you will be charged for the lesson.

We recommend that all new students and parents take a Hello Horse! lesson. This monthly lesson teaches a new rider and parent basic horse care, safety, grooming, tacking, and cooling out.

Package Lessons (10 week)
For students who wish to ride consistently on a weekly basis.
Payment to be made in full before the beginning of the 1st lesson of the package.

* Lesson time includes preparation of horse (bringing horse from stall to arena, mounting, etc.) and returning horse to stall.

New Students:
For all new students, we require an initial 1/2-hour private lesson, which gives the instructor a chance to advise a student and gives the rider an opportunity to become acquainted with our equestrian program. Each student will then be placed into an appropriate group or private lesson. Riders in our group lessons are placed according to ability and knowledge. Call to schedule your first lesson.

Apparel For All Riding Lessons:
Students are required to wear long pants, boots with a minimum of a 1" heel and a smooth sole to ride. No gum chewing. We do provide approved riding helmets for students. However, we do encourage each student to purchase his or her own hard hat. You can visit www.statelinetack.com to purchase a helmet.

Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations must be made within 24 hours of lesson or practice ride time. Makeup lessons will be scheduled only when the proper 24-hour notice was given.

Exceptions: When severe weather is present. Definition of Severe weather is: Sirens have sounded, KFDI has a severe weather alert/warning. Lessons not canceled with 24-hour notice will be charged.

Release Form
A release form must be signed before a student is allowed to ride.

Please expect to be on the farm 15 minutes before and after your lesson.
